Do I need firmware update for newly installed Samsung drive?

Hi,

I suppose there is no way to tell, but it would be a good thing to do as there appears to be several issues to cover off!

It seems the drive needs the new firmware to operate properly. Make sure you have a backup or disk image ready to use since a HDD firmware update will most likely destroy all datat on it.

seems to imply that the firmware is already installed in drives made after December 2010. Is there anyway of checking if it is? e.g. Using Belarc?

Also, I don't think that this drive is one of the Eco Green range. It only shares the HD204UI code. Does this mean I don't need the update?

Thanks again.

D.

Hi,

What makes you think that about the drive now?

What other information do you have about the drive that would help us to assist?

Where did you get it from & what other codes are there on hte drive ect.
