Vista built-in games do not run

Hello. I've installed Vista Ultimate 64-bit edition on my computer. I don't know why but no built-in game is running (FreeCell, MineSweeper, ChessTitans etc) except InkBall. When I go to Start-Games, a window appears, but it disappears immediately. When I try to launch the game directly from Program Files/Microsoft Games it seems that nothing happens (I get same result also when I choose run as administrator). However, after installation, the games were running (I spent some time playing minesweeper when I was downloading newest graphic driver). Do somebody know, where the problem is and how to solve it? Thanks you for help.

Hello maker2807, and welcome to the forums!

Mine started working after I installed my GPU Drivers.

If that doesn't work, try to reinstall them through Control Panel -> Delete a program -> Windows Programs (or something like that, I have the Dutch version). Then unmark Games and afterwards mark it again after the reboot.

Hope I helped

Thank you for your advice. I have the newest driver for my GPU (nVidia Geforce 8600 GT) and I also tried to reinstall the games but it doesn't help. Games still aren't working. I downloaded Hold 'em through windows extras and it doesn't work too. Any other ideas?

Very strange, do you have a legal copy of Vista?

Try to do a sfc /scannow, I don't think it works on the games but it's always worth a shot.

Yes, strange... My Vista is legal. I know that there could be problems with pirated copies, but this isn't my case... I am trying sfc /scannow at the moment, but I think it won't help... Maybe it is some kind of driver or software incompatibility because after installation I was able to play at least minesweeper, then I installed GPU, Audio and LAN driver and some antivirus software. And then the games stop working. I tried to uninstall and install drivers again, but get no result... I will also try uninstall antivirus, maybe it'll help..

Hi Maker2807
I have vista premium and I am having the same problem. I cannot play certain games either the games are not functional and they are flickering. I have the gforce 8800gt. Had dell change the card and the OME software and that did not make a difference. I hope someone post an answer for you it may help me. This is a new computer but I did not notice it until after the 30 day replacement guarantee. I have a warranty until 2010 but they claim it is a problem with Vista.

been away
please somebody reply
