weird keyboard problem

i recently bought an amd 940 and everything works fine except when i want to play games. for some reason my keyboard does not want to respond correctly. for example, i will start walking forward...still holding "w" and all the sudden i stop. i am still holding "w" down but not going anywhere. i have to let go and press it again but it continues to happen. this happens with all directional buttons as well.

problem exists in every game from crysis to halo and a few in between

now this sounds like a stupid problem from just getting a new processor but it had NO problems with my amd 7750.

sounds stupid but i could use some help

i knew i should have mentioned that...

its a microsoft oem keyboard and mouse

is it possible at all to have some MINOR defect in the processor or motherboard? i only had the processor for less than 30 days so i can exchange it(cant refund). like i mentioned before, i did NOT have this problem with my 7750. im not really planning on going back to that though

My Computer

have you tried to download the driver software from micro$oft yet and see if that helps with the issue.

yes...the wierd thing is that this ONLY happens for games. i can sit here hold down any letter all day long, but when i am playing a game that is when it messes up. my movement stops even though i am still holding the key down. when i tried to play halo it did say something about not having enough memory, even though i have 4 gigs running 5-5-5-15 2T @ 1066

Are you using a PS/2 (Round Purple/Green) Connection, or a USB connection?

Try using another keyboard and see if the problem persists. If it does, you can rule out drivers, and then look at hardware malfunctions.

i switch out for my old dell ps/2 keyboard and the problem stopped. now i moved the receiver closer to the key board and the problem went away...for now. what i am worried now is that it might come back and i do not want to go back to wired board. i have not had a problem with signal strength before wherever it was placed. right now the receiver is not in an ideal spot but it works. if anyone else has anything let me know. i did update my bios to make sure that the cpu was compatible(it was already ok before the flash, but i wanted to rule that out). the flash did contain a cpu update. anyway, i still would like to get this figured out in case it comes up again and the fix might not be as simple and i would be less tolerable to the change.
