Far Cry 2 Wont Load Past Splash Screen?

Well, I tried to run FC2 but all I end up with is the small splash screen, I click on it and it wont respond. I heard a lot of things about solutions, but most of them were for certain graphics cards. I did a little more searching and found that Intel might be lying about their game playability of their chipsets (Yes, I have a crappy chipset *Intel GMA 3100 G33*) but someone said it could run Far Cry 2, and they linked it from the Intel website. All my drivers are up to date. I am not sure what to do right now...

Hello Madandfrustrate,
Go to this site and it will give you an idea as to whether you can run this game or not.

Can You Run It

FC2 is very intense on the graphics, so its a coin flip, if Intel say it will run the game, then it should.
If you get it running, you will have to turn everything down so much that it will not be a great gaming experience.
I have seen Videos of FC2 running on your chipset on YouTube, so it should be possible.

Hope this helps, good luck and post your results.

Well, no help there. I already ran that test and it said failed the minimum, as the chipset has no vertex shader or HW T&L.

I am all for stumping on Ubisoft and their games but, the fact remains... the chipset may be able to handle the game but if your computer is not up to par, you'll be hard pressed to play the game.

Stormy is right, BF2 does not tax the computer at all compared to this heavy, unoptimized game that Ubisoft calls Far Cry 2

I think you have just answered your own question, no, it will not run it, but as i said, there are Videos of it running on your chipset, maybe they have more Ram, or more CPU power.

And from some of the comments I wouldn't call around 10 FPS playable, more like painful.

Thanks for that stormy13, to be fair, the graphics on their own are fair, for that chipset, apart from the tearing, but the frame rate is terrible.
I would have to agree, painful.

thats a differant chipset , X3100 > GM965

The X3100 supports hardware transform and lighting and SM4 , thats why it will run FC2 albeit somewhat badly :p

Bah, close enough. Still comes down to the fact that if you want to play anything more demanding that solitaire you're still going to need a real video card, not Intel's lousy offerings.
