Gaming lag [PSU]

Hey, i got a new power supply for my pc because my old one broke, i went from 650W to 500W, and whenever i play games online (counter strike source, league of legends) i get network lag on my ventrilo, but when i minimize the game, the lag stops, and when i close the game, the lag stops. i was wondering if it was because of my new power supply, or just my network, my specs are

ATI radeon hd 4830
AMD phenom 8450
2gb dual channel ocz 800 mhz ram
Asus m3n78 (i think ^^)

im still using pci-e and 20+4 pin motherboard connector, i havnt really changed much except the power supply itself.

so whats the problem?
thanks.

I think it just might have been a coincidence like the dude above said. If it continues for a long time though, for like 3 or more days, then maybe it's not the network.

Are you on Wireless or Wired connection?

uninstall and reinstall ventrilo. if that fails. save your settings and do a system recovery or reformat.

could be cpu priority, try adjusting the settings slighty from task manager. you could also try using different sound codecs and using a lower bit rate in vent. in the games if you have the option disable voice chat.
less likey but possible is that the new psu is faulty or low quality and is not supplying enought watts or correct voltage.
