If you have the game fully updated which i assume you have there is very little you can do , some people have no issues with BF2 some , like you have the CTD problem , its been going on years and assuming your rig isnt to blame , drivers up to date nothing overclocked you'll probably never find out , its a BF2 thing im afraid

I had this problem, I thought intermittently, but discovered the game always works when my webcam is plugged in, and always crashes when it is not. Can't explain it, but give it a try.

I had the same problem ! I dont know what causes it, but what i did was uninstall Battlefield 2 then i used CCleaner (you can google it) then i ran the registry tool within CCleaner then i went into the Programs Files folder and deleted the Battlefield 2 folder that was left after i uninstalled Battlefield 2 then i uninstalled PUNKBUSTER for Battlefield 2 then i rebooted the computer. then i re-installed battlefield 2 and i never have had that issue again!

Could you post more information about your system? Also, some graphics cards are known to have compatibility trouble with the game, so that might be the cause.
