Vista games will not reset

I tried to reset my scores on both Hold 'em and Windows Solitaire. The scores appeared to have reset, but when I logged on again, the old scores were right there. Worse, even after winning games in BOTH games, the same total scores come at the end of a game. This not a critical problem, but it is irritating.

I am always nervous when deleting files from directories made by the OS, so I moved the files outside the game's directory. The problem was gone! I did the same thing for the Hold 'em game. Same result. I subsequently deleted the offending files. Thank you.
