Can you run dx9 and dx10?

Noticing that there seem to be problems with games that expect dx9, but Vista comes with dx10, is it possible to run both versions in the OS? Or is there some sort of workaround?

No work around. Just install the game you want to play, let it install the DX9 and it should be ready to play (worked for me anyway)

Microsoft Directx 9 or 10 is a software used for full-color graphics, video, 3D animation, and rich audio. Definitely every game needs Directx. You can download it also.

This is an old thread been revived.

You can only have one version of DX installed then later version will everwrite the previous ones. The DX files should be backward compatible so there is no need to install DX9 and DX10. My Vista has DX11 installed.

Where did you get that? You can have every version of DirectX installed on the same system. In fact, some applications require a specific version which may be an older version. The application in use will decide which version, of the versions installed, to use. Of course, if your application allows the use of things like DirectX 10 or 11, the graphics card has to support it.

Edit: After I posted and closed out, I got thinking not about what I said but how I said it. I apologize if I seemed to come off too strongly.
