No GUI winload.exe.mui in Vista x64 SP1 Boot Screen

Has anyone noticed that you can't use a custom boot screen in SP1? Prior to upgrading to SP1 I had a custom boot screen which worked fine in Ultimate x64. I upgraded and lost the ability to use a custom boot screen, whether it be my original custom screen or any other custom screen. Has anyone figured out how to do a custom screen in SP1?
Lastly, anyone who has updated to SP1 x64 (or x86) if you can post the default winload.exe.mui it would be greatly appreciated. I didn't backup my original / default winload.exe.mui and I wanted to restore the original file.

actually it still should work..i use tuneup utilities...and it customizes my Bootscreen automatically..i have done it the old way where you back it up and all...but this way is easier and it does it for you

not so sure how to upload it using this forum...sorry

You can upload after posting your reply. Below the SUBMIT REPLY button there are additional options and there's a manage attachments button. If you can post your original SP1 file I would appreciate it.
Does tuneup utilities work with x64 vista? Most of the boot screen programs don't work with x64

tuneup utilities is mainly a cleaning program..but yes it does..it also has some cool features..right now im running it on vista x64 sp1

and yes i did see the manage attachments...but u cant add a .mui extension file...

also tried adding it to a rar file...it doesnt wanna do it

also yes i did hear that u cant customize boot screens like previous in sp1 but..tuneup utilities does work and i got some neat vista screens if u want them

Can you zip the file since this forum appears to accept zip files. If not just rename the extension to one of the valid extensions this site accepts. Lastly if it doesn't work can you email it to Removed

yup got the file...thanks. But the file you sent was the custom boot screen, not the default boot screen which is around 26kb in size. The default file should be named winload.exe.mui.tuneup.backup

My Computer

Thanks...I'll keep an eye on my email. I tried Tuneup Utilities and it still wouldn't let me change the boot screen, so I want to restore the original file which is 26kb

After some trial and error I've figured out why the boot screen wasn't working. The image being used must be a BMP with dimensions of 800x600. The thing I didn't know is the image must be 32 bits Color; anything other than that will prevent the image from working. Unfortunately no where in TuneUp Utilities does it tell you this information.
This is the image I'm using
