I had a hp pavillion with XP and I put music and photos on a cd-r disc. Now I have a new hp pavillion wirth Vista on it. I can not read my cd-r disk on the vista computer. Actually its not one cd its many. They are still readable on the old computer. The new computer reads store bought cds and dvds. I have seen many people having this trouble but no solutrions. Anyone able to help? Thanks a lot if you can help?

Finalizing

Regarding my cd-r problem someone said I should have finalized the disk. Is there a way of going back and finalizing a disk either on my new computer or my old computer?

Make sure you have the same software used to burn the original cd installed on the new computer, i.e. nero or roxie.

I used the wizard in Windows. In other words I highlited all the files and hit copy to the drive where the cd was located. It thens tells me I have files waiting to be written so I clicked on write files and then it asks if I want to copy the files to another cd and it ejects the disk. I really did not use a cd burning program.

Can you read them on another computer other than your old computer and barring your new computer. If you can't that will tell you for sure it hasn't been finalized. That being the case, add another song/picture to each disc and select the finalization option rather than the add too later option.

Thanks to those trying to help me. I could get any of these solutions to work but there's a program called Isobuster that helps read and recover information on CDS if anyone has this problem just google the name of the program and it should show you where to download the program. It basically free. I think there are a few advanced features you have to pay for. However this program is helping me quite a bit. It did not work on every disc but its been a huge help. Just posting for future readers. Thanks again for the advice Jax and Clevo. Once I get on this information on my computer I will burn it to new discs using the proper method and finalizing lol.
