Blocked Programs and Download Files

Hi:
I have disabled some start up programs I do not want to sart up in Vista. I keep getting this annoying message reminding me of this when Windows start and when it is open. In XP there was a check box to keep this from showing, how do I turn this off in Vista.

Also I sometimes get files by e-mail such as Access programs that I am working on for a customer. Windows Vista will not let me open these.

Message: This file is located outside your intranet or on an untrusted site. Microsoft Access will not open this file due to potential security problems. To open the file, copy it to your machine or an accessible network location.

I copied it to my D partition but still Vista will not let me open it. I had to copy it to my zip drive and then open it on my XP computer.

How can I open it in Vista?

I do not know about your Access problem, but you might post that question in the Microsoft Office forum to see if you can get more replies on it there also.

Thanks for the advice on the anoying message.

I have one other question: I read somewhere in one of my PC magazines how to copy the Vista operational files from the hard drive of my laptop to a DVD. Then should the harddrive fail I have the system to re-install. I cannot seem to find that article now.

I have an Acer Aspire 7520-5839 laptop, my other Acer prompted me to make backups of these files when I first set it up, this one never did.

Any suggestions?

Also I downloaded the Vista recovery files Vista_Recovery_Disc.iso.torrent

I do not know how to open it and how do I burn it using Nero? Do I need a program or something to open it?

This will show you how to make a Recovery DVD of your installation files from your laptop.

If you wanted to, you can purchase a copy of it from Acer. I do not know what they charge for it though.

I do not know if the ISO file you have is just for repairing Vista like in this tutorial or for actually installing Vista, but you can see the method on how to burn a ISO to DVD in this same tutorial.

Hi Shawn:

The first 2 links for Accer are now the same, before you had one going right to the recovery page but now they both go to the home page. I am trying to get through to it from those links but keep getting a Gateway Timeout for some stupid reason, the site is slower than mollases at the North Pole. Could you fix that link for me please?
