hi everybody, I'm new here so this is my first post:)

I have been having some trouble creating folder pictures for my albums and movies. on my old Xp it was a peace of cake doing this, but i can't seem to get it working in vista. I right click on the folder in wich i want the albumart to show, and i choose the picture, and apply the setting but the folder does not change. I don't know if it has something to do with my folder options. I have been searching the net for an answer but there seems to none.

can anyone help?

If the "proper" method (Properties - Customize - Choose File) does not work, then try saving a picture to that same folder, but be sure to use the file "folder.jpg".

I have now tried to move the folder onto a different Harddrive and this seems to work. i now have the folder picture, to me this is weird, why it does not work the other HD.

Open the picture that you want to use as a folder picture, then save it with a new filename called "folder.jpg"

Besides what you've already tried, and what I've said, I don't think ther is much. But you can try to reset the folder:
  1. Click an empty space on the to make sure that nothing is selected
  2. Right-Click on an empty space in the folder and select the "Open Command Window Here" option
  3. Type the command "attrib -r -h -s -a desktop.ini" (without quotes) and press <ENTER>
  4. Type the command "erase desktop.ini" (again, without quotes) and press <ENTER>
  5. Close the command prompt
  6. Try customizing the folder again, using either the Properties-Customize method, or by saving a file called "folder.jpg" into that folder.
Generally, what the above does is clear all customizations from the folder, both pictures and icons. Changing the icon of a folder usually precludes the use of a custom picture.

Hope this helps, because I'm fresh out of ideas. :(

Open the picture in Paint (or your favurite picture editor), click File - Save As, change the file type to JPG (or "JPEG File", "JPG File", "JPG/JPEG File", or some other variation thereof), change the name to "Folder" (without quotes), then click save.

Thats all there is to it. You really are a newbie, aren't you? You're in the right place. If you need help with anything else, feel free to ask!

I hear you! I went through the same growing pains just over a year ago when I first got Vista. One thing is certain - there's no going back to XP for me (except, perhaps, inside a Virtual PC for testing my software)

I just got vista two weeks ago, and i must say with some decent hardware (just Oc my e6750 to 3,5ghz) this OS is simply great, and it runs very smoothly and will never go back to xp either. it took some time to use to, but still it's worth it.
