Broken "Open File Location".

I've recently been looking around here, following some of the tutorials, and i've recently developed a problem, which I thought i'd post for some advice on how to fix;

Basically, the context menu option for shortcuts "Open file location" is broken. Whenever I select it, the following message is shown; "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Set Associations control panel".

I 've tried numerous things, including X-Setup, Fast Explorer, Resource Hacker, but all seems to be as it should be, and looking at the shell entries for lnk files in the registry, they are identical to those of a 'working' system..

What should I try next?

Was there anything paticular that you did right before this happened that you noticed?

You might try running a sfc /scannow command to see if it can find and fix any bad system files that may be the cause. This tutorial will show you how to.
