ReBoot Time

My reboot time for Vista is about 3 minutes, starting just a week ago.

The screen hangs at the 'shutting down" for about a 1 min & 45 sec.

I uninstalled the software I thought it made the difference, but that was not it.

I also installed Manhunt & Fable in that week, but I'm not uninstalling those, even if they are the guilty.:zip:

On the performance information, there's nothing that mentions slow shutdowns, but there's a mention of slow boot-up, even though it takes like 30 sec.

Thanks for any solutions.

are you sure your pc isnt cleaing the paging file everytime u shut down?

open regedit by typing it in the start menu search box, then navigate to

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\

find & double click "ClearPageFileAtShutdown" & make sure its set to 0 in the "Value Data" box.

Thank you very much fieseler. That was exactly it. Thank you Axon for that guide to reduce the shutdown-time in general. Now it's superfast.

I tested a software on both XP and Vista, which I uninstalled 2 days later. It did not change the value to 0 after it was removed.

Fixed for both, XP and Vista, plus reduced the shutdown-time in general.

Thanks again. :)
