    Desktop icon does not delete

    Hi folks,

I have an icon on my desktop which refuses to get deleted.
I have gone looked at various other posts and have tried to follow the steps..unfortunately none of them have helped me get rid of the sticky icon.
the file name is RATATO~1.rm and i dont know how it was created.
    * deleting in safe mode doesnt help.
    * tried shedding the file wid mcafee...doesnt work.
    * deleting from cmd prompt doesnt delete.
    * have tried to remove the registry entry, there are various entries and am not able to figure out the exact entry.
When i try to delete, the delete program goes into an infinite loop.
says " recycling 1 item..calculating time remaining" and gets stuck.

    please help!

    Hello VeeseeKay,

Since you have the 32 bit Vista, you might see if using the free program Unlocker will allow you to delete it.

    Hope this helps,

Re: Desktop icon does not delete

Hey! Just thought Id mention I had exactly the same problem with a .rm file (Real Player) that would not delete off the desktop. The Unlocker Assistant worked brilliantly, stopped EXPLORER.EXE using the file and deleted it!
