CD not detected. Error 10.

Hi! I have a Toshiba Satellite L300 laptop and my DVD drive doesn't seem to be working. I tried it with various CDs and DVDs and it never detects anything. So I went to the Device Manager and this is what it says:
TSSTcorp CDDVDW TS-L632H ATA cannot start (Code 10).

I checked the driver and it tells me its updated already. I tried restarting it multiple times but no difference.

Help?

Hi Melawrghk, welcome to the board.
You may first try to go to Toshiba support website and download the appropriate firmware for the drive. Let's hope flashing the firmware will take care of the problem. Good luck.

I can't find ANYTHING on Toshiba's website...

Try this:

Open regedit and go to

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

check do you have following values:

LowerFilters and UpperFilters

if have them- delete them + restart

Now I have a problem where it doesn't eject the disc though... Any ideas on that?

Hi ,

I also have a TSST dvd writer - it is supported by Samsung , you can download the Live Update program from here - it checks if there are any firmware or driver updates - don't know how old yours is, or if they will have anything for it, but it won't hurt to try
