Computer would not sleep

I have searched the forum already for a solution, but by following the instructions so far, my computer still does not fall asleep according to the power management settings.

I set the power option to "Balanced", and I tweaked at the advanced settings. I set the Media Center to "Allow Sleep" and set my mouse to not wake the computer up. Defrag and Auto-Protect, indexing, Superfetch are all off.

Does anyone have any idea how to coax my computer to fall asleep on its own? The screensaver comes on, but it would keep running even though the power option is set to turn the monitor off after 30 minutes, the HDD off after an hour, and the computer to sleep after 3 hours of inactivity.

If I press the sleep button on my keyboard, the computer goes to sleep immediately and does not wake up until I wake it up.

But sometimes I want it to stay on for a few hours before going to sleep because I want System Restore to back up stuff while the computer is inactive.

If I just put the computer to sleep whenever I am not using it, can System Restore still create Restore Points while I am actively using the computer?

Hi satchmo, sorry I don't have a immediate solution, but I have been manually put my pc to sleep when ever I am away from the desk and it seems everything has been processing appropriately. Give it a try to see if every okay for you too.

Hope this helps,

Bruce
