Vista deletes all SD card files when one is selected

For the second time, Vista has decided that when I select one folder (out of 4) to delete from my SD card that I must really have meant that I wanted to delete all four folders...permanently!

I take the card from my camera, put it in the card reader on my laptop, look at the pictures in the different folders using WE, then decide to delete ONE folder that has pictures I don't want, and when the screen refreshes, ALL the folders are gone. Is there something I'm missing here? The exact same thing happened to me about three months ago and I thought I had just done something wrong but I know I selected only the one folder to delete today.

Is there something in Vista that thinks just because I've looked at the pictures that I don't want them anymore? Are they hiding somewhere on my computer? I checked the recycle bin and the pictures folder and they aren't in either place. Any ideas for what happened to them?

Thanks for input!

Hi dbbattle and welcome to Vista Forums

I would approach this in a different manner. Firstly, COPY the contents of the SD card to a folder on your PC. This is your MASTER copy. Next, COPY this copy to another folder. This is then your WORKING copy. You can then manipulate your pictures as you like, even delete folders, but as long as you have your master copy intact you can retrieve everything, even if you empty the recycle bin.
