When I open windows explorer, I see:

Desktop
-Username
--Contacts
--Desktop (again for some reason)
--Documents (which I don;t use - I have a NAS)
--Downloads
--Favourites
--etc
--etc
--loads more crap I never look at

-Public
-Computer <<< Yeah! THIS is what I want.

All folders are shown unexpanded except the user folder. Is there any way to change the default behaviour so that User folder is always unexpanded?
Or better still, Computer expanded and nothing else.

Thanks. :)

Hi abssorb and welcome to Vista Forums

I'm currently running W7, so the image shown below comes from that. However, this method should work in Vista.

Create a shortcut to Windows Explorer on the desktop. Right-click on the shortcut and select Properties. Select the Shortcut tab. Modify the Target so that it reads as shown below. Click OK.

Hi :)

Many thanks! I does work on Vista. It gets me close, It shows me C:
Can I enter something to show Computer? Then I get a list of all my mapped network drives ready for me to pick.

Ah, found it. Thanks to your lead, I found it here:
http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/71306-windows-explorer-default-opening.htmlhttp://www.mydigitallife.info/2009/...cts-or-folders-when-opening-windows-explorer/

For my needs, the target should be:
%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /n,::{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}
