Registry Cleaning

My friends at school are all saying that I should run a reg cleaner. I really just want to know if it will actually help or if it will only make a small difference. My computer specs are below. The computer is used mostly for creating 3d models and texturing them. I do play some games on it. It is about 6 months old.

I guess the main questions are, Is it going to make a difference? Is there a potential it could mess something up? If it is worth it, what program do you guys use?

thanks

jeremy

Re: Register Cleaning

I use CCleaner but mainly to delete instances of programs I want to uninstall. What exactly is the problem or what are you trying to do? it may be easier to help if we know the whole thing

Re: Register Cleaning

My advice is, leave the registry alone, it is quite capable of looking after itself and if you don't know what you are doing messing about with it could turn your machine into a doorstop. ;)

Re: Register Cleaning

My opinion only. My registy is 350mb, so cleaning out a few lines, or even thousands, will not impact such a gigantic file. 350mb is equivalent to hundreds of books.

Re: Register Cleaning

Hi Mustangsupra,
Take Joans advice and mine too. Do not use a Registry Cleaner. No matter how benign they may appear. The claims are many, and the advertising is great, and also very deceptive. Please take it from one who DID....DON'T. The machine you destroy will be your own.
