Need to install Vista 32bit MovieMaker on 64bit Vista

I am running 64 bit Vista but have a client who is running 32 bit Vista. I need to troubleshoot some problems they are having with Windows Movie Maker. Can I install the Vista 32 bit MovieMaker on my PC, and if so, where can I download it. I know I can download 32 bit MovieMaker 2.6 from MS but I believe this is the XP version.

Why do you believe the client's problems to be related to the "bitness" of their OS and/or WMM?

I'd suggest describing the real problem (what is it that doesn't work?) so that you don't run the risk of investing effort in the wrong direction.

Uh... that is my real problem. The video plays on my 64 bit MM, and on my 32 bit XP MM. It does not play on any of the customer's 32 bit Vista MMs. These are all home based PCs of many various manufacturers and configurations. The only common thread - they are all Vista 32 bit.

Can anyone suggest how I can download Vista 32 bit MM and install it on my 64 bit Vista PC?

I don't know how you'd get a 32-bit MM short of copying it across from a 32-bit box. Others may of course give you better suggestions.

Having said that, I still don't think the "bitness" has anything to do with it.

For starters, video ends up getting played by the Windows Media Player (wmplayer.exe) process, and not by Movie Maker (MM). You'll find a 32-bit WMP under "\Program Files (x86)\Windows Media Player" on your x64 build. You could use that to test playback under a 32-bit process.

Also, AVI/MPGs are data, not code. There's nothing intrinsically 32-bit or 64-bit about them. I suspect it's more likely that your issue comes down to codecs, or lack thereof. That's why it would be better to describe the actual symptoms (what happens when the video is played? what error messages does the user see?) so that someone with more experience than me in the whole video-making/codec/media thing can try to help.

The codecs are either 32 bit or 64 bit. In this particular case, we are dealing with DIVX. There is no 64 bit DIVX codec available. The only way I know to troubleshoot the problem my client has is with a 32 bit WMM which can use the 32 bit codec. WMM 64 bit cannnot use 32 bit codecs.
