Was wondering if anyone could help?
The problem is my windows vista home will not load to the login page. it all started when my computer would not shut down. as it wouldnt i pressed the off button left it for a couple of mins and turned it back on again. it came up saying that there was a problem and i selected to have it automatically fix the problem. it said it could take a few times for it to work. on the second try it said it could not fix the problem and gave option send message to windows.pressed ok,came up to remove any cd or camera connections. i had my phone charger connected which i removed and restarted, where it then had the option of loading windows normally which i did. the loading bar came up at the bottom and disappeared a few seconds later leaving me with a blank black page.i re-did this again but selected the safe mode this time and still it did the same thing. i do not get why it has gone like this because i only use the internet and word and update my computer when it needs be. i am no good with computers and feel hopeless on how to fix this as i have only had this computer for literally a couple of months!

Hi Rebecca,

Welcome to the forum.

Have a look here and maybe follow some of the links;
http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/194765-system-recovery-options.html?ltr=S

The tutorials are well written and easy to follow.

Should this be of no help you also have the choice of having your PC repaired under warranty you just need to take it back to where you bought it.

I hope this helps

thank you pooch for your help!
unfortunately my problem with the computer still persists.
i have tried safe mode....repair start up...command prompt...restore whole pc,which it would not let me as i had no back up and the rest just lead me back to the blannk black screen...to top it off noone made a recovery disc for the pc.as i have never used vista was unaware you had to create a recovery disc. which leads me to another question of what disc can you use to create a vista recovery disc? in the booklet i found out it says you can not use blue ray disc,DVD-RAM,CD-R, orCD-RW. i have very little knowledge with pc's so what im asking now may seem silly to ask....is it worth making a recovery disc on a different computer which is exactly the same as the computer that is not working? Also there is not even one disc that came with the computer...i find that unusual...ive been told that there should be a operating system disc? i cnt find anything along the lines of this disc anywhere.

Hello Rebecca,

what disc can you use to create a vista recovery disc?

Any CD/DVD-R or CD/DVD-RW :)

is it worth making a recovery disc on a different computer which is exactly the same as the computer that is not working?

Yes it is. You can use any computer You can also use any Vista DVD the only stipulation you have to check is, if the DVD is x64 or x32. You can only use the same as the Vista installed on your PC (For a repair!)
If you want to install NEW You use the Product Key that came with your PC

Also there is not even one disc that came with the computer...i find that unusual...ive been told that there should be a operating system disc? i cnt find anything along the lines of this disc anywhere

No, it is unfortunately the norm. The Manufacturers do everything to save money. You have most likely a recovery partition which you activate by pressing one of the f keys, while the start screen is displayed this will restore your PC back to when you got it.
The f key is sometimes displayed during the BIOS screen
