Put a Vista Ultimate x64 build together on Saturday.

Specs:

Mobo: Gigabyte ep45-ud3p
CPU: Intel e5200
RAM: 4gb Patriot Viper DDR2 SDRAM 800Mhz
Video Card: ATI Radeon HD4870
HDD: 2x 640gb WD Caviar Black (Raid 1 array)
Case: Antec Sonata III (1 120mm exhaust fan)
PSU: Antec Earthwatts 500w
CPU Cooler: Artic Freezer Pro 7 w/ Artic Silver 5 thermal compound

Problem: Starting to get random BSOD's (about 1-3 per day)

Technical Information on BSODs:

Again, these BSODs happen about 1-3 times a day randomly.

All drivers (chipset, videocard etc) are UP TO DATE.

Temperatures (via HWMonitor):

Intel Pentium E5200 hardware monitor (idle)
Temperature sensor 0: 39°C (102°F) [0x3D] (Core #0)
Temperature sensor 1: 39°C (102°F) [0x3D] (Core #1)

*CPU temps go up to 50-51°C under load.

ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series hardware monitor (idle)
Temperature sensor 0 71°C (159°F) [0x47] (GPU Core)

Voltages (via HWMonitor):

There has been NO OCing on this build!

I have run MemTest86 successfully with no errors (individual sticks and together)

I ran Prime95. Not very familiar with this program so maybe you can help me with the results. Both workers stopped their tests twice 1 minute in....

I would be happy to give you guys any information you need. Please help me... i've installed the OS twice and still get these random BSODs.... :(

My Computer

Three factors point at a probable hardware problem:

- The Prime95 results indicating unexpected hardware response.
- BSoDs on a clean install (invariably indicative of a hardware problem if it happens before additional software/drivers are added).
- Multiple stop 0x109s. Suggestive of a hardware issue.

To my way of thinking, you're at the stage where ripping out all non-essential hardware - as a test - is the next step.

Thanks for the reply. I must add that the BSODs did not start until AFTER drivers were added.

Also, i'm not sure I have any non-essential hardware. I need the video card because there is no onboard video w/ ud3p; need both hdds for Raid 1 array. I suppose I could remove either of the optical dvd drives but I really doubt that is the problem. I dont have a backup cpu or motherboard.

My Computer

Just wanted to give an UPDATE...

I ran Prime95 again multiple times and it would always pass the small FFT (little ram usage), but then constantly fail the large FFT (more RAM tested) and blend (lots of RAM tested)... this led me to doing another MemTest86...

and sure enough, I got an error before the first PASS.

It was test #7 (random number sequence)
the failing address was: 000646F254C - 1606.1mb
Good - fc3d4e5f
Bad - fc3c4e5f
Err Bits -00010000

Now the only question is... I was running both sticks of RAM in this test, how do I know which stick is bad?

My Computer

Try the stick individually.
