Hi there,

I recently built a new system about 5 months ago and since then I have gotten a plethora of blue screens. They mostly occur whenever I run games on my computer. The most recent of which was a SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION. Here's the technical information.

Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
OS Version: 6.0.6001.2.1.0.256.1
Locale ID: 1033

Additional information about the problem:
BCCode: 3b

BCP2: FFFFF80001B83363
BCP3: FFFFFA600BCD1FE0
BCP4: 0000000000000000
OS Version: 6_0_6001
Service Pack: 1_0

C:\Users\heshaam\AppData\Local\Temp\WER-71167-0.sysdata.xml

Ever since I've put this computer together it's been nothing but frustration. I hope someone out there can assist me in solving this problem.
Much thanks.

The SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION bug check has a value of 0x0000003B. This indicates that an exception happened while executing a routine that transitions from non-privileged code to privileged code.

Parameters

The following parameters are displayed on the blue screen.

ParameterDescription
1. The exception that caused the bug check
2.The address of the exception record for the exception that caused the bug check
3.The address of the context record for the exception that caused the bug check
4. 0

Cause

This error has been linked to excessive paged pool usage and may occur due to user-mode graphics drivers crossing over and passing bad data to the kernel code.

If I where you I would reinstall vista and install the latest drivers for your graphic card and motherboard and any other things you might have, all so install windows vista Service pack 2: Download details: Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2 and Windows Vista Service Pack 2 - Five Language Standalone (KB948465)

Thank you for the advice Crispy. You said that the cause had to do with excessive paged pool usage. On that note, some of the other blue screens I've gotten in the past with this system were titled BAD_POOL_CALLER and PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA. I'm just wondering if these blue screens all have something in common with each other.

Anyways I'll take your advice and reinstall vista with the latest drivers and service pack 2. I've reinstalled vista several times before but only with service pack 1. I hope SP2 will make a difference.

Thanks for your time Crispy.

The most common reason for a BSOD that I've seen is a problem with drivers. And most often the problem with the drivers is in how they access memory.

All of your BSOD's that you've mentioned are errors that have occurred in memory. So, if the drivers are ruled out, that leaves (basically) 2 other things that could be wrong:
- Windows (in particular the Memory Management sub-system) - not likely
- physical problems with your memory - more likely, but not as likely as a driver issue

So, we've gotta rule out the driver issues. If you've got the time, you can test your memory using the built in memory diagnostic in Vista: How to use the Vista Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool

I just finished running a standard memory test and found no problems with my memory. I think I'm going to run an extended test just to be safe.
