Solved Startup Recovery Disc Problem

Hello, my friend's laptop came up with the unmountable boot volume BSOD recently and I've been trying to fix it. I followed the guide and booted the startup recovery disc, but all I'm getting is a black screen with a mouse arrow after it says it's loading, so I can't even get to the startup recovery option yet. Is there a reason it's not showing up?

Its a Dell Inspiron 1526 laptop with windows home 32bit.

Hello Proto1Star, and welcome to Vista Forums.

You might see if you can run the Dell Hard Drive Disk Self Test to see what it may report that may be helpful in finding out what if anything is wrong with the hard drive.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

That's what I was afraid of. Sorry to hear that. :(

Luckily hard drives can be gotten pretty cheaply these days. :)
