Can't delete "The... folder does not exist. The file may have been moved or deleted."

Ok, when i click on a file to delete it, it comes up with this ---> "The... folder does not exist. The file may have been moved or deleted."

I think I have deleted these files a while ago but when i search for them they show up
as 0 bytes.

I tried - creating a new folder with the same name and putting those files in and then deleting them, but doesn't work. I tried Hijack this and delete on reboot, can't open as file does not exist for deletion.

don't post solutions that are stupid please such as: have you tried right click and delete

It's so wide thread...
Have you tried in safe mode?Checked permissions for folder?http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/157304-folder-permissions.html

This means you and /or Administrator group have full access to this folder?

If you have x32 system you can also try UNLOCKER 1.8.7 BY CEDRICK 'NITCH' COLLOMB
Maybe you have only NameSpace object? http://www.vistax64.com/general-discussion/189243-undeleteable-desktop-icon.html

If still nothing help it could be caused by wrong name folder ->in this situation burn liveCD linux for example https://www.mepis.org/ boot, run and delete unwanted folder

I could be NameSpace object or normal folder with wrong name - neverless try everything what I said and you can try.

Re: Can't delete "The... folder does not exist. The file may have been moved or delet

hey, tried folder permission but when i click on security tab, it says "the requested security information is either unavailable or can't be displayed.

with unblocker i tried it said it cant delete and asked me if i wanted the file to be deleted on reboot, so i said yes and rebooted but file was still there

tried the name space object, didn't work as i couldnt find anything in regedit.

the problem is that the files have been deleted in the past as i remember.
however when i search for them they still exist, except i can't find the location of the folder, and when i try open the location it says i can't because it doesn't exist or have been moved. the files just appear when i search for them they are not seen anywhere else. remember the files are ONLY THERE WHEN I SEARCH FOR THEM, no folders exist

Hello Kevin 09,
You may find your problem is in the registry, a lot of info is left behind when a program is un-installed, download Ccleaner and scan your registry.

DONT FORGET TO USE THE REGISTRY BACKUP OPTION WHEN PROMPTED.

Here is the link for Ccleaner, it's free and may solve your problem. Please post your results, thank's and good luck.

CCleaner - Download

Ok, say you have a virus and you delete it, it will come back because it is still in system restore, so, if you deleted this file is it possible it's still in the system restore and showing up on a search ?, does that make sense or am i away with the fairys ?.

Re: Can't delete "The... folder does not exist. The file may have been moved or delet

yea I can kinda understand... but i think i've mentioned that in the first post.
the files only show up when i search for them. and i cant delete them.
I don't think they are viruses.
They are just files which happen to show up even though i deleted them.
maybe something happend in the process of deletion. inproper deletion some how? i dont know.

The virus thing was just an example, but if the information on the files are still stored in system restore could they show up on a search ?, the only way to find out for sure is to remove all the restore points, but i will leave that up to you.

Re: Can't delete "The... folder does not exist. The file may have been moved or delet

that sounds like an option.. do i have to delete every single one of them? can i try deleting couple and leave some old ones? and how do I remove them?

Re: Can't delete "The... folder does not exist. The file may have been moved or delet

I'm not think so you have any virus neverless nothing to lose if check it also :Malwarebytes.org (here you have tool to dignose)
If tool find something wrong in registry you have turn off system restore for the moment and turn on again http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/66971-system-restore.html
Use any external file manager for example Total Commander or if you don't have TC you can use also any free file manager for example FreeCommander - freeware file manager
And check any external file manager can see these strange files-phantoms or not
