Kodak Error Message when computer boots

Janja

New Member
I have Windows 64bit Vista Home Premium on a Dell Inspiron 530.

I tried to install Kodak Easyshare a couple of weeks ago and my computer crashed. So I uninstalled it (I'm using the picture card to transfer pictures now) and everything seems fine EXCEPT that every time I boot up the computer, this message appears:

"C:\PROGRA~3\Kodak\EasyShareSetup\$REGIS~1\Registration_7.9.30.1sxt
The specified module could not be found."

It doesn't seem to cause any harm, it's just annoying. I have searched for files that may cause it, but with no success. I am a beginner.

Thank you for any help!

Hello Jan,

You might check your Startup Programs list to see if there is one listed for this there. If so, then you can delete or disable it to hopefully stop this message as startup. I would be sure to check in all of the Run and RunOnce registry locations as well at that link to.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

I have all ways had trouble with Kodak installs as they tend to go deep into the system best thing I have to do is uninstall go to Kodak support there is a download that will clear all the Kodak of your PC.
Download and save Easyshare go to system configuration click services tag tick hide all Microsoft services then click on disable all/apply and restart then install Easyshare.
Go back to ser/con tick nermal startup this is the only thing that worked for me and I do this with all the updates this way I found works best and good luck.

your computer is looking for the form that you use to register the software with kodak. you could try to install, then uninstall again, to remove the registry entries. or you could try a utility such as ccleaner (leave it on default settings if you are a beginner). just about any registry fixer will work, but ccleaner is free and reliable.

Thank you guys, so much. I downloaded ccleaner and ran it--but I sitll get the error message. I went to the Kodak site and ran the download that is supposed to remove all traces of files--it did not work. I'm pretty sure it's not in the Startup programs.

My Computer

did you run both modules of ccleaner? one cleans programs, and the other cleans the registry. by default, the program opens to the program cleaner. you have to select the registry icon (on the left)

Thanks, but when I open it, it does ask me to click "I agree," but then it only gives me two options: an arrow to run and an X to exit. I don't see anything else to select. :(

Okay, I did that. Now should I click "Fix selected issues..." (everything is selected)?

Well, I clicked "Fix all issues." It seemed to get rid of a lot of files... but then when I restart the computer, that same blasted message comes up. Maybe I should just learn to live with it?

My Computer

i would try reinstalling the program, reboot, then uninstall it again. also, you might try running ccleaner multiple times in a row, until it doesnt find any errors.

What are Run and RunOnce registry locations? :)

Janja,

In Method Three of OPTION TWO at the tutorial link below, you will see how to check the Run and RunOnce locations in the registry. When you look in the right pane there, see if you have anything for "C:\PROGRA~3\Kodak\EasyShareSetup\$REGIS~1\Registration_7.9.30.1sxt" there. :)

Thank you, kword88. I really don't want to reinstall the program because that is what really messed up my computer the first time. I've decided to just get pictures from my camera to my computer with the picture card. I guess I should run ccleaner again several times?

My Computer

i thought maybe, if you installed it again, it might UNINSTALL properly the second time around. you dont actually have to run the program.

Thank you, that's a good idea, but I'm too much of a scaredy-cat to do it. Installing it is what made my computer go crazy before.

My Computer

Hi again did you try this it was Kodak that give me this advice you will find that if you run Clear Utility for KODAK EASYSHARE Software it removes more of the deep software and you can find at click link below.
KODAK Knowledge Center
Kodak.com it removes more then ccleaner and not that hard to do.

Janja,

Have you already checked the startup locations in the registry to see if that Kodak file is listed there?

I'm sorry, Brink, I don't know what "startup locations in the registry" means. Maybe I should do a little research if it is too much trouble to explain. Really, I don't know what that means.

No problem Janja. Take a look at Method Three of OPTION TWO in the tutorial link below. It will show how to check the locations there to see if that Kodak file is listed in the registry. If it is, then you can delete it to stop it from running at startup. :)
