USB Drives fail to display in My Computer

I'm a reasonably experienced user who's done some tweaking of my system. Recently, I've developed a problem. I have Windows Vista SP1 Home Premium x86/32bit, on an HP Pavilion dv9000 - more information available if needed.

Here's the problem. None of my USB drives display in Windows Explorer. However, Windows is detecting the devices, and they show correctly in any number of other file managers - Explorer++ for example. The devices also display in the Disk Management tool, and I can reassign drive letters and format to my hearts content - with no change to my problem. I can even go so far as to mount the drives to an empty NTFS folder, which I can browse to in Explorer normally, and everything works in this way. However, it STILL doesn't display in My Computer under the actual drive path. I can use the "Explore" option from Disk Management, but the path of the drive is not displayed correctly.

I've also checked all my drivers and everything appears to be working correctly.

I think I've narrowed it down to some Explorer setting, but I'm at my wits end figuring out what it might be.
