"Startup Repair" loop and graphics card problems

Hello all

Every time I turn my laptop on, it will load Startup Repair. Even if I hit F8 for the boot options and choose any of them, regardless of what I choose, it will go into Startup Repair. This means I cannot boot my laptop normally or even get into safe mode.

When in Startup Repair, if I choose the "Automatically repair Windows Vista startup problems" it will tell me "Startup Repair cannot repair this computer automatically".
I would not like to have to type out the entire problem signature, but if it is necessary please ask.

This all started when a 3D game crashed yesterday and I had to do a hard reboot. After that, whenever I loaded any sort of 3D game I got a blue screen and the driver for my graphics card (nvidia GeForce 8400M GS) encountered a problem. The driver was nvlddmkm.sys, which, after looking on the Internet a bit, thousands of other people have had problems with.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, whether it is fixing the Startup Repair loop or fixing the graphics card problem.

Thanks in advance!
