Microsoft Programable Mouse for Two Monitors

I have two identical monitors for one computer running Vista with two identical graphics cards. My arrow indicator jumps to the wrong monitor screen and is hard to return to the intended original monitor. Can the Microsoft Programmable Mouse, or other mouse, be programed with arrow indicator to left monitor/arrow indicator to right monitor switch? How? I have a Dell mouse now.

Hi and welcome to Vista Forums!

Can you tell us which graphics cards and how you have connected the monitors?

It's a Dell Optiplex 330, with two Dell monitors. The guy who sold it added the cards for me. I'd need to phone him to find out. I'd hoped to use Front Page and write HTML on one monitor and watch the result on the other, but never could make that work. Years ago, from Dell over the phone, I ordered a computer and ask the salesman if I got two monitors and used Flight Simulator, could I use the instrument view in one monitor and out of window view in the other. He said sure. No mention of additional card then. Result was just one view split in half. A waste!

Hi, can you go to Device Manager and tell me what is your vga cards' model?

Thank you for your help. Did not find VGA cards mentioned, per se. Found "Display adapters": ATI Radeon HD 3450. Is that the same thing? Accidently found if I scoot the arrow on the wrong left monitor, hard left; it jumps back on the right side of the right monitor--a big help. Still the accidental changes are annoying. Still prefer a mouse with three-position rocker lever, left down to left monitor, right down to right monitor, spring loaded to neutral center position of either neither monitor, or wherever it happens to be.

I hate to loose you. Please transfer this question to the proper forum: I keep getting "Low Disk Space, back-up disk D full". I've backed up now on an external (but connected) drive. How can I clear D. I've tried many times, but the deleting unnecessary files instructions delete nothing?

Hi!
Look at this picture (this is my configuration)

ScreenSettings.jpg

Click button n° 1 to identify your monitors (monitor 1 and monitor 2), than drag and drop monitor 1 and monitor 2 (section n° 2) to the correct position.

Hope helped you!

How do I get to the two monitor 1 & 2 choice screen, in case I don't figure it out? May I ask why you use two monitors? Do you know of any website building software that will show HTML code on one screen, and the result on the other? Thanks!

My Computer

I have Vista in italian, I try to translate:

1) right click in your desktop
2) choose the last entry (Personalize)
3) a window appears
4) choose the last entry (Screen settings)

I have to monitors because I'm a software developer; on left screen, I have Visual Studio 2008 and on right screen I have my application debug or SQL Server Management.

I don't know of any website building software like you said, sorry.

Will report back.

My de Tonty family kin (Baron Alphonse de Tonty, Capt. Antoine de Tonty, and Gov. Henri de Tonty from Canada to Mobile, Alabama; their father in Paris was known as an "ancient Italian". Their father invented the di Tonti system of insurance. Their mother was a de Liette. Also in 1600's America was their/my kin, Maj. Charlies Pierre de Liette killed 1730's Ackia where my Maj. Pierre Gabriel de Juzan (French only) was also killed. His mother was Mme. Michelle de Liette de Juzan "of the King's cabins", Versailles, France. The de Liettes were of French-Italian (di Lietti?) heritage too. It is because of genealogy that I'm into computers, sans much skill.

Finally was able to get to "Personalize" which gave me six options. I tried all six, none were the two screen choices. However I have been there before on this computer and did what you said to do many months ago before I moved the computer. I have a fantastic piece of free software, "LookIntoMyComputer" with two eyeballs logo looking down. But that did not help.
