Bootup order/terminology question

I'll skip the long story and cut to my question. My BIOS now shows my boot order as
1. RAID dsk02 (couple of letters like et,tc?) then "DVD"
2. RAID dsk00 568mb...ect ect (obviously the HDD)
3. USB disabled (another story for another day)

I assume # 2 is the optical drive? I've never seen "RAID dsk02 DVD" in a BIOS before representing the optical drive. Any feedback to edjucate me would be great

The make and model of your system (or motherboard if it's custom built) would help.

I suspect that the motherboard is using the RAID controller to access the drives - so everything will say "RAID" even if a true RAID array doesn't exist (we're seeing this in some systems from major manufacturers at work).

It appears that item 1 is your DVD drive - but to be sure we'd need to see the exact string that appears there. The same thing goes for item 2 (but that is most likely the hard drive).

The true test here is to put a bootable CD/DVD in the drive and see if the system automatically boots from it. That will confirm that item 1 is the boot drive.

If, after removing the CD/DVD from the drive, the system boots to the hard drive - then that confirms that.
