Solved Spacebar not working

I have a problem with the Spacebar not working on my Toshiba satellite Pro P200 notebook (NumLock +Alt 032 doesn't work either), although I can use the on-screen keyboard spacebar.
I have uninstalled & reinstalled the keyboard via Device manager but still no spacebar.

Is there anything else I could try, please?

Hi keslap and welcome to Vista Forums

I take it that you have used the OSK to make your post. Have you tried an alternative USB keyboard?

Boot up with Linux or another LIVE CD (doesn't install on hard drive). If the problem persists, then your spacebar is broken. Could also use Bart PE.

I'm posting from another PC. Unfortunately, I do not have a USB keyboard, but I will try to borrow one next week.

I'm unfamiliar with Bart PE. I'll investigate Linux or similar. Thank you for the suggestion.

I thought I'd update you...

I found a website which showed step-by-step instructions & pictures for removing the laptop keyboard. Following these, I took out the keyboard, removed the spacebar key and thoroughly cleaned under the silicon layer using an isopropyl/water mix. I then left it to dry for a day and put it back.

I have just switched on again and, voila! My Spacebar is working again - yippee. There must have been something preventing contact.

Thank you for your help. Hopefully, the problem won't re-occur.
