slow boot up time

hi, i am having really slow boot ups lately on my laptop. i have done things such as virus scans, defrag hhd, scan regestry with REGESTRY BOOSTER 2009, defrag regestry. i also have no start up programs in my strat up folder.

Problem is that i could start from dead start to a fully loaded desktop in 98 secs....now it takes 124 secs to do the same thing. where it takes the longest is at the boot screen i just watch it load (forever..ahhhhh!!!) then the windows logo comes up and it smooth sailing from there. i would say it takes about 8-12 secs after the windows logo to get to desktop.

I need some help this slow boot is killing me as sometimes i have to work on the fly.

What other app have you installed or un-installed since boot up was 98? What antivirus, firewall, other start up items?

It seems some startup trimming may be in order. Run (WinKey + R) msconfig, browse to the Startup tab, and disable unnecessary entries. If you are unsure, upload a screenshot or ask about specific ones.

The bar moving across may occasionally cause a slowdown.

You're welcome 7vis. That's a little bit better and not completely unnormal depending on how much hardware and drivers are being inialized during the startup process.
