moved or deleted files reappear with reboot

recently any files i either a) delete/move in bulk while holding the CTRL button or b) entire folders i delete, have been reappearing when my computer restarts after shutdown. the deletion shows up in my recycle bin or the destination i moved it to, but it's like another copy appears in its place. these have so far been .mp3 or .jpg files (i haven't tried it on any other kind). i've emptied the recycle bin and they still appear. what could be causing this?

Have you created a recyle bin shortcut somewhere else, or moved "special folders" or put folders within folder? What about taking ownership?

Have you also moved the location of one of your user folders to a separate hard disk or partition too?

I don't know if a program is creating these files, if your syncing with another PC or Skydrive or what (without more information). Please try rebooting into safe mode. Delete files. Reboot into safe mode again and see if these files still exist.

i haven't created a new profile or folder in a partition, nor have i created a shortcut for my recycle been. i'm not on a network or syncing with any device. i do have an external hard drive that backups my current drive every night. i'll try rebooting in safe mode to see if that fixes things. would i need to do this every single time i need to delete folders or bulk files?

Does the same problem happen if you don't use the CTRL key? Try using the mouse to delete files in bulk instead of the key.
