BHO DLL error causing rebooting loop

Hello

I have a system giving me this error every time the desktop comes up:

1/ "This application has failed to start because BHO.DLL was not found. Re-installing the application may fix the problem". The top of this box is titled - "ie3sh.exe unable to locate component."

2/ "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the programme and notify you if a solution is available." The top of this box is titled - "IE3SH Application has stopped working."

After about ten seconds, the system does a crash dump and then reboots. When the option to select safe mode comes up, it does not allow me to select it and stays locked on starting windows normally. The desktop comes back up and the cycle starts all over again.

Someone had d/l a program onto the system earlier that day that I am pretty sure contained the adware/malware that is causing the havoc. I am not sure what the best program to try to run is. Any suggestions?

I tried booting from a disc that had the CCleaner.exe program on it, but it did not load. When the desktop comes up and the two error messages pop up, nothing on the screen allows to be selected. I'm getting ready to call it quits on this drive unless someone can suggest one more boot program to try. Anyone?

The computer belongs to a friend of mine and he does not have the boot disc. The problem with the manual BHO detection instructions is that Windows does not allow me to select any icons when the desktop comes up. The errors pop up for about 5 seconds then it crash dumps and restarts. Is there any other program other than the boots disc I could use to save the hard drive?
