I am having problem
I have a Toshiba intel core2 duo windows vista 32bit home premium.
When I select disc clean- up program
It gives me a choice to select -- My Files only -- or --Files from all users ---

The error message below happens no matter which of the two choices I select. The error happens 100% of the time.

Disk Space Cleanup Manager for Windows has stopped working

A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

Please help me get Vista to work

go to event viewer (type that in search) and go to the windows logs, applications tab. Look for errors (red "X" in left column) see if any are relevant to the problem. If not pick the most comman one and using the built in snipping tool (type that in search) take a snapshot of the error and upload them to us using the attachment icon (shaped like a paperclip)

let us know if you need help with any of this

red "!" will do. it may be different in different keyboards, language packs etc. so what do these errors say?

it says: ! Error 9/27/2009 Applic...Event Id 1000 Task C (100)

thats generally a DEP error. DEP= data execution prevention

Ok we need you to go to the start>control panel>system control panel>advanced settings>performance settings>DEP should be on for all programs.

let us know what it is on

should be on for all programs and services except those I select. this is more secure and results in less errors

disk clean up still doesnt work I assume, right?

the only things I have found in terms of disk cleanup failing are

Compressed files

registration (activation) broken

I dont think either of them apply to you. there has to be a remark in event viewer. If the service stops/fails that should be listed. do me a favor and look in event viewer under windows logs, system.

I need to do a little research on this because there isnt a lot of info.

while Im googling take a look in event viewer

In Reliability Monitor, do you see an entry for the crash? Also, you can't enable DEP for all programs in a 32-bit version of Vista, only the essentials.

Ahh, my mistake. What are the details? If disk cleanup doesn't work, then also run this .bat file which will check your disks for any errors, run as administrator, then run sfc /scannow at an elevated command prompt. When the .bat file is finished upload the Results file in C:\Results.
