My Folders are now files

HELP ME PLEASE !! My Folders are now files

Can someone please help me ... I have a very important folder on my Vista machine that contains many files. The folder type has changed to Type: File and therefore cannot open. Can someone help me get it back to a folder type so that i can access the files inside? The folder is on a USB Verbatim U3 Smart fob
