The Vista activation code has faded away!

I had to reinstall Vista, because of lots of errors. After I did that, and wanted to log in, it asked for the activation code. (So basicly, and can't log in before I have it).

But the thing is the activasion code is underneath my laptop, and it has faded away now! I can't see any of the digits. What on earth can I do?

There's another 8 number code that I still can see. Maybe I can use that to proove my certificate?

Most likely you'll have to talk to the company that made your laptop.
If you registered it, things should go easily.
If you haven't, then you may have to provide proof of purchase in order to get them to help you out.

The OEM (PC manufacturer) is responsible for those codes - not Microsoft

Strange. Did you do a factory recovery?

Most of the time when you do a OEM factory recovery from your recovery partition, it includes the product key number with it and is usually already activated or can be activated right away.

Hmm thanks for all the tips. I'm going to call the company tomorrow and ask if they might have it.

I called them up... They told me I just had to buy a new one, which is lame! I'm gonna try using the reinstallation cd again.
