Hello,
As i already stated, my drive doesn't read any dvd's anymore.
I've already tried to:
-Remove Upper/lower filters (Lower filters were missing, could this be the problem?)
-Switching the sata ports from were the device was connected.
-Upgrading the firmware of the dvd player
-Upgrading the Bios
-Asked here
-Some stupid things.

Windows and the bios do see this drive and give it the correct name.
I've already tried this with an other drive and she had this problem to.

So please help!!

if you have system restore enabled try restoring to point where the drive worked and see if that fixes it

Thats the problem i have system restore, but the last working point i knew about about was 1.5 months ago so bad luck. I already restored to the oldest restore point availebel but no luck.

Now i'm trying to downgrade the bios to a version i was sure it was working.
I've also tried with a lunix boot and no luck at all, so the problem must be os independent.
I will see for the chipset driver.

My Computer

well you could try a drastic method of doing a clean install of windows to see if that fixes it or take it out of computer and try it in another computer

You can also check one thing:
Navigate to key HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Cdrom and check you have phrase Autorun =1,if is 0 fix it + restart
If stiill nothing help unistall program for CD virtualization like Alcohol 120,Deamon and likely and all 3p programs for burning DVD

If it don't help too I suspect any strictly hardware issue with your DVD;try clear DVD Samsung Clear dvd drive mod - Difficulty 2/10 - Xbox Tutorials - Xbox Hacking, Xbox Modchips, Xbox Dashboards, Xbox Bios, Xbox Softmods, Xbox Auto Installers

Try updating the drive's firmware from the manufacturer's website. It isn't likely a BIOS issue.

I think it has something to do with the lens. Becaus when i boot the dvd tries to read when there is noting in. Then i see 2 dots on the paper that is covering a hole just above the lens.
Shouldn't this be one?

Paper? What's paper doing in there?

Ah I see. I haven't got a loose one hanging around to examine, thanks.

Sounds like a faulty drive perhaps.

The only time a drive should kick into action by itself (with nothing in it) is if it's the boot drive and you are booting up, then Windows polls it momentarily or if you are using software that's looking for a disk.
