Very high CPU usage

hi

i have just installed a fresh copy of vista ultimate on a 3GHz processor 2gigs of ram and 160gig hard drive.

i have not yet installed any other programs and the CPU usage at idle is between 95 -100%.

when i look at the processes nothing is using much CPU(taskmgr.exe is the highest at 14) .. but yet still the CPU is registering 95-100% all the time.

can anyone help me with this ?

something is not right. There must be processes chewing up the CPU. Check with Process Explorer what they are and post back.
