My Computer Is Runnig Windows Vista Home Premium And Up Until Now I Have No Problems, Yesterday I Turned It On An I Got A Black Screen With Two Options Saying
"Launch Start Up Repair" An "Start Windows Normally", I Click Launch Start Up Repair And I Get A Blue Screen Saying "Unmountable Boot Volume"

similar to the picture in this link:
UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME

except i dont see the technical **stop** part at the bottom,

i than restarted my computer an boot to the vista cd i have, i get to the vista screen select language, time zone etc when i click repair computer though the driver isnt there an im supposed to manually select one except i dont knw where to find it.

i restart the computer an boot from cd again this time when i click repair computer it shows me windows vista but a window comes up with a "searching drivers for windows installations" that just seems to linger for hours on end.

i restart the computer again an boot from cd this time when i click repair computer there is no driver but i can still press next an get to the command prompt menu and such, ive posted on several other forums looking for help and advice an one of the suggestions given to me was to run bootrec.exe in the command prompt

i did that but when i got to the "scanOS" part it just lingered there an would not progress so than i restarted an went back to the command prompt to try the other suggestion typing
bcedit /export c: \bcd_backup

again more problems after i pressed enter the _ symbol just started flashing under neath it and i could no longer type in any commands, its just lingered for hours on end.

i restart my computer again but this time when i boot to cd after loading windows files an showing me the green windows logo loading bar, the screen goes black an just stays there, i cant boot to cd anymore , even without the cd in the driver when it comes up with "start up repair" it always goes back to that black screen an just hangs there....

Ive Heard You Can Do A Clean Install, But I Dont Have A Licence Key As My Computer Came Pre Installed With Vista.

I Really Need To Get This Computer Fixed A.S.A.P

if the problem cant be fixed with the vista repair cd, instead of buying a new computer system could i just replace some of the parts in the computer, an if so which ones?

im resorting to depserate measures here,

can anybody please for the love of god help me??!!
im at my wits, i've spent countless hours researching an trying evry suggested solution to no avail, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME!!!

Hi Afakasi:
Can you log in "safe mode with command prompt"? If so, run CMD as administrator and type: "sfc/scannow" then press enter.

Hello Afakasi,
Go in to your Bios and see if your HDD is being recognised there.
While you are there, reset everything to default. (normally F5).

Usual causes: Hard drive problem, File system problem, Improper boot parameters

It could be your HDD, or just a corrupt file system.

Can you get hold of a Vista DVD/CD ?, this may be your only chance to repair your file system, but to be honest, i don't hold out much hope.

If you cant get a Vista disk, do you have another HDD you can try ?.

Let us know how it goes, good luck.

when i run the vista cd, press any key to boot, it loads the windows files ok
than goes to the windows logo loading screen with the green bar an than goes to a black screen that just lingers.

i dont understand it worked fine previously i was able to use the vista cd an get to the menu where it has "repair computer"

but after i typed bcedit /export c: \bcd_backup in the command prompt menu it froze,
therefore i had no choice but to restart an now i have a lingering black screen,
that wont even let me use the vista cd

If you have backups of what is on the HDD, i would format and re-install Vista, if it is the HDD, then even that wont work.

If not, i would try another HDD, and see if you can recover your files some other way.

should i just buy a new internal hard drive an a licence from microsoft in the hopes that it will somehow fix itself an allow me to install a clean version of vista??

or would the corrupted OS files stll be on my computer, an give me the unmountable boot volume error?

My Computer

If the files are corrupt, they will only be on your old HDD.
You could remove the HDD and see if a repair shop can test it, they may be able to get some of your personal files off it for you too.

i ran seatools for dos to check an it came up with quite a few errors, so im guessing my internal hard drive needs to be replaced, if i do replace the internal hard drive, would i be able to cleanly install windows 7 or would i still have some of the vista files somewhere on the computer??

My Computer

No, all the files are kept on the HDD, so a new HDD would have nothing on it, so you can safely put what you like on it.
Windows 7 is a good idea too.
