explorer stop working and chkdsk always starts

I'm using windows vista

My explorer stop working last night so I restarted my laptop. Now it always goes into disk check.

black screen with text etc.

I abort and when my laptop logs in I have to manually run explorer to get my icons task bar etc

is there a way to cure this?

I recommend running a system files check. Open an elevated command prompt and enter sfc /scannow.

If that doesn't work, you may need to try a System Restore or a Repair Install.

i can't do system restore.. it says the disk has errors

Have you tried letting the scan run?

You can also run it manually. Open up a command prompt and enter chkdsk /R /F.
