Hi. My computer is a Sony Vaio Laptop using Vista and the screen broke so i was using an external monitor for awhile but then it got a virus (I think, the computer WAS getting kind of hot before it stopped working...hopefully its not a hardware problem), whatever the problem is , now i cant log on to my computer to do anything about it: it lets me get to the logo screen where i have to choose my user but when i do click on the user it freezes on me . I cant get into the advanced boot options and then to the system recovery because my computer does'nt send signals to my monitor until it gets to the logo screen mentioned above. Since i cant see what I'm doing i cant get into where i need to go to do a complete system restore! I was just wondering if someone could help me in some way please.

Hello Welcome to VF,

In your post i guess there is a answer !! The Laptop is getting hot that might cause lot of heat issues. Try to use a cooling pad and see whether it makes any difference. Or use the Vista disk and boot from the disk and see whether you can get to System Restore

Here are the Tutorials
