Help! Vista freezes after a short period of idle!

Please help! My Windows Vista Home Premium continuously freezes after a short period of not using it. It can vary from 30 minutes to an hour or two. I do not have screen savers and turning off monitors or hard disks on.

I've checked a couple of the forum threads here, and I noticed someone helped somebody else with a similar problem (http://www.vistax64.com/general-discussion/251632-windows-freezes-idle-time.html). I did all the actions "usasma" suggested in his post, so hopefully I can get some much appreciated assistance.

I'm uploading these files that the user "usasma" said to upload, in hopes that someone can help me fix the issue. Oh and I am using a laptop, so upgrading the hardware would be difficult for me.

Thank you all very much!

My Computer

I've tried to use the disk check, and virus scanners. I haven't had any luck finding any problems. I tried defragmenting, but the computer freezes before I can finish defragmenting.

Please help!

I have checked your report. It appears to be a driver problem. Go to device manager and look for any yellow warnings, of driver problems. When found, install the latestest version.

Hello davenyc,
Very often system freezes are caused by memory failure.
Remove all your ram and insert one stick, try the PC and see what happens, if all goes well try the other stick.
This will eliminate the memory.

Hope this helps, good luck and post your results.

Thank so much for everyone's help. I tried checking the device manager, and I didn't find any driver errors that I could update.

stoneys-nutz, I believe that you may be right on the memory failure issue. I tried removing the ram and inserting it one stick at a time. It seems that one of the ram causes the freezing more than the other one. I'm gonna try replacing both the ram on my laptop. I just purchased a new set online. At the same time, I'm doubling the ram in my laptop, so even if it isn't because of the ram, at the the computer will run faster.

Thanks so much! I'll post again once I get the new ram.

I do not have this problem but I am wondering if one has to expand the Devive Manager tree to see the yellow warnings ?

Hello FDLeyda,
No, if there is an error with a device, the yellow triangle will appear as soon as you open Device Manager.
Hope this helps, good luck.
