C: Drive nearly full.

Hi Guys,

My C: drive is that full I am having problems backing up, etc..I have deleted as many programs as I feel comfortable with via "Programs & features" and directly thru the folders. I currently have 1.21 GB free of 314 GB on the C: drive and 118 GB of 203 GB on the D: drive.:confused:

Can anybody help me?

I'm suprised that Windows will even boot from that HDD...
What issues are you having backing up ? ?

You need to move a lot of what's on C to D (data files only); make sure you change any program settings that refer to the files you move.

Then, you need to add another drive, or replace the D drive with a bigger one.

Run CCleaner. It gets rid of a lot of junk.

You must have a lot of Music and/or Video files on C. Those can easily go on an external disk from where they play just as well. Or, if this is a desktop, plug an additional drive in and move them there.

Thanks for the quick responses!

I use CA Backup & Migration but it seems to hang (probably because there is not enough room?)

I have transferred about 30 GB of data files to another drive so will see if it backs up OK now!

I use CCleaner weekly!

Have put a 1 TB external drive on.

Will let u know how it works out!

you could delete your shadow copies might get another couple of gigs c: properties/disc cleanup/more options

    Only ever used a laptop.

You still need to transfer a lot more data from that C: drive. 30GB isn't enough free space to keep working with on your main drive..

Packrats need bigger houses - data collectors need bigger disks.
