Create or get OEM Recovery Disc?

I have a question and am in hopes someone has the answer. Ok my Dad has the Vista64 on his Gateway computer. Well he didn't make the disc when he first got his new computer. We are needing those disc due to we had to take it to bestbuy(under warranty), and they are telling us they have to have the disc to repair his system due to it is corrupt and they are going to have to wipe his system clean and take it back to the original factory settings. This OEM Recovery Disc that is showing in this post and link, can I download that onto my system which is XP to put it on the disc for that? OR will it actually download a vista 64 into my system? I don't want to mess up my system so this is why I'm asking. Was going to purchase the disc but have no idea where to buy them at.

Thanks for the help!

First there is no link shown.
Second, what is the name and make of your computer. There is usually an Fkey that can be used to go back to factory settings.
You cannot make an OEM DVD at this point.
You may be able to get one for cost from the manufacturer/seller of the computer.

Hi Richard. Thanks for the reply and Sorry I thought the link showed up. Here is the link~
Gateway Support - Create System Recovery Discs for the Applications and Drivers External Media in the Gateway Recovery Center
It is a Gateway MD7818U with Vista64

This is my Dad's computer. It is currently @ the shop @ bestbuy where he bought it at. I never could get it to reset to factory settings so we could try and repair it here before we took it to bestbuy. Bestybuy Geeks said we would have to purchase the disc to reload the vista64??? Which they said it would make it just like it was when he received it. So with that said, I was trying to figure out how to either buy these disc as bestbuy is stating we have to do that for them OR How I could obtain them for free as stated above, but didn't know If I could download that into my system XP as I don't need to be messing up my computer just to get something for free.

That is not an OEM DVD, that is a recovery DVD. It will allow you to boot. You can download into another computer and make the DVD.
Do you have the computer manual. If so look how to restore factory settings. If not I will look it up; try to fix it here and save a buck.
If you call the Manufactuer, you may get it at cost. Let me see how to reset to factory settings.

Ok the computer won't be back to Bestbuy for another two weeks, They sent it to gateway and stated Gateway would NOT reload the vista64, they would just see why it wouldn't boot... and Bestbuy stated we would have to have the original disk that my dad was suppose to make when he got the computer. Well he doesn't have them. So now I don't know what to do as it is not in my possession any longer. So was just trying to save a week of repair to find out about the disks I can take bestbuy to load them with...

The link you sent me, that is for a Vista64? Correct, as it doesn't state that in the gateway file.

Thank you for your time to answer.

That is for what ever is installed on the system... so for you, it'll be vista x64.

If they make/insist you have to get an os disk... buy win7.
