Can someone assist me with this error?
"ACTIVE DIRECTORY DOMAIN SERVICE IS NOT AVAILABLE"
Both Epson R260 Printers no longer communicate with either of our home business Pc. One with Xp and other Vista Os
Only recent install was PNY GeForce 210 Graphics Card on the Vista Pc.
Tried Microsoft Help, Epson, HP, and even Norton Symantec Help live remote. Plus I tried the below suggestions from another Tech Site. Still no solution.

  • Network set to Private
  • Network discovery On
  • File Sharing On

Hello & welcome,

I have a couple of questions first: -
  1. Which version of Norton do you have?
  2. Have you just updated the Norton software?
  3. Do you have Norton on both PC's?
  4. Is your system fully updated?
  5. What virus scans have you carried out?
  6. What has changed since it was last working?
I hope you get the gist of what I am trying to get at, something has changed & I need your help to identify it.

Please post full details for your system, make, model & version of windows, home - premium & SP status etc. etc.

Hi,

In Norton create a new firewall rule for the following (Some assumptions from me on the network addresses): -

Follow the pictures (No.) as they travel across from left to right. put in your addresses for your network. OK?
  1. Action
  2. connections
  3. computers
  4. communication
  5. advanced
  6. description
Try that on both PC's & see if it is the firewall blocking you.

Thanx
Discovered last minute that clicking on screens enlarged them.
TRAFFIC RULES ... Should I clik any or leave all alone as is ?
ACTIONS
... clicked ALLOW ... OK
CONNECTIONS ... to and from ... OK
COMMUNICATIONS ... TCP and UDP clicked OK
COMPUTERS ... Where do I find the address ranges ?
ADVANCED ... Leave both boxes unchecked as seen ?
DESCRIPTION ... My name ... "Edward" ... will work ?
NETWORK ADDRESS .... is this also needed and where to find ?

Maybe a Skype call would work if you would approve and be able ?
Regardless of the time zone I can make it easy for you.
Thanx for your patience :)

Hi,

Traffic rules, click add (this gets you going).

Computers, click "add" & then input your network IP range. Start from one above the router i.e. 192.168.0.2 to 192.168.0.255 or 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.255.
Do you get the picture?

Advanced, yes.
Description, anything will do!

Network address, this can be found by several methods. Network sharing & click on full map (See pictures) Once there hold your mouse over each item & it should show you the IP address of each item.

Standard network addresses are 192.168.0.1 through 192.168.0.255 as in my example. You just need to see the your address & follow the sequence. OK?

Oh, I do not have Skype or anything like that sorry. I will watch for you coming on-line & then you contact me via PM (Private message). Click on my name & select PM.

Hi,

Following on from that phone call, a summary of the conversation: -

Your PC is now setup to accept the network traffic but the problem still exists. From further discussion we established that the printers are actually connected to your PC's via direct USB cables & they fault out as soon as you apply power to them, red warning lights.
  1. I have subsequently suggested that the fault lies with the printer (Continuous ink system).
  2. I have also suggested that you replace this system with a set of Epson or equivalent cartridges that are known to work.
  3. Report back (On the forum) to confirm your printer status with the new cartridges.
That covers off the conversation. Please report back once you have news.

Good and "Very" Professional Discussion.
Will do what has been suggested by purchasing Epson Ink Cartridges to attempt to reactivate PC with Standard Epson Cartridges.
