Hi eeeelizabeth,
Wow!! Lots of e's.
Welcome to the Forum.
The yellow sign is usually associated with a fault, not necessarily bad, but you have to be cautious.
Could you explain in a little more detail the yellow sign.

Is it flag, triangle? What is it indicating red cross, or other.

Get back to us at the forum when you can. Was there any error message?

Hi Sorry,
Wrong Link! Doh!

n the 'device manager' I see 'Mass Storage Controller' which shows me a yellow sign of exclaimation & the following message pops up when 'right clicked' on 'properties' ;

''The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)
There is no driver selected for the device information set or element.
To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver''

Next to the Storage Controller Icon is a small plus sign, click on this and a dropdown of your units will be listed.

Highlight each one in turn, when highlighted, right click, click on properties.

In the inner box it will say device working properly or otherwise.

This often happens with itunes.

Let me know what you see.

Hi.
Sorry for my delay in reply, I have been away from the computer andforgot to log off.

Thanks for the info, & pic.
Have you any anti-virus software & anti - malware?

If not first download with malwarebites -update first. Malwarebytes FRee software. Full scan.
For anti-virus download and scan from: SUPERAntiSpyware.com | Remove Malware | Remove Spyware - AntiMalware, AntiSpyware, AntiAdware!. Please make a note of the results and let us know.

This should ensure that any virus's, malware, are cleared from the computer.
So that any new drivers etc, are coming to a clean environment. OK?

Do this first then we can look at the next step.

Find out what type of driver. That can be seen from device manager, just click on it. Then go to the appropriate website and update the driver. If you are updated, roll back. The yellow warning usually refers to a problem with the driver.

How to Find Drivers
search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone - will help you search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- - if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.
- The most common drivers are listed on this page: http://www.carrona.org/dvrref.html
- - Driver manufacturer links are on this page: http://www.carrona.org/drvrdown.html

That Mass Storage Controller turned up in my device manager after a Windows update and as my computer was working sweet I just right clicked and disabled it. I notice it now calls itself "unknown Device" but it is still disabled. I might bother to look into it some time,I don't think it will do any harm to disable it and then it will stop looking for driver software at every start.

Hi,
Happy you managed to find some of the bad guys, these are bad and its good they are out of your system.
Ok, I think what Richc is trying t say and I agree that it is likely a Driver problem, but that we don't know for sure.

Now the pic. you sent to me of your controller with the warning on, when you click on the small plus, a little drop down menu appears?

When click properties, do you have multiple tabs> Like General,Driver,Details,Resources?

If so click on Drivers and their should be a "UPDATE DRIVER TAG, push that & it will ask you if you want to update, from computer first, and if it can't find on computer, search a
automatically.

Do this for all storage units . That should ensure everything is up to date, and maybe you ipod will work.

If you don't u/stand anything , come back to us, we can take things at your pace, ok?

That is what Richc46 was trying to tell you. You will need to identify what the mass storage controller is and who made it to get the driver as Windows will either tell you it was unable to find a driver or that it is already up to date. Update drivers in device manager is crap, better to download them from the makers site and browse your computer for them.

hello everyone. thanks for all your help. @kesume if you look at the picture again of my device manager, my mass storage controller is under "other devices" so there is no plus sign for me to click since it was already under one, and the other window on top of that is all i get when i go to its properties, there is only the one tab called resources, thats what is stopping me from taking anyones instructions to update the driver, i cant... & richc it wasnt that i dont want to use your instrustions, just imagine that you are giving computer instructions to an 80 year old woman...i know nothing about computers.. i got lost when you said to google the driver. i dont know what a driver is or what is on my computer or what to compare lol so i didnt know what i am googling..sorry really am trying to not be a pain!!
