NO 'Snipping Tool' for Vista Home Basic!!SO- What can we use?

Hi guys and gals.

In the absence of the 'Snipper Tool', what is there as an alternative for me as a 'Home Basic Boy'

Suggestions please of what is out there for HB, from reliable sites.
That perform the same or similar tasks.:huh:

Go to programs and features and turn on Windows features. It will take a while to load then select Tablet pc optional features

Want to get what I can for HB, But upgrades toooo expensive.

So instead today got a HP G56 laptop, Win7 64bit, 4Gb little beauty.

It was when I was thinking of going from 32bit basic to 64bit win7, my FIRST thread!!

Maybe it is not on basic, I use home premium and have it pinned to my quick launch.
There are a lot out there. I looked at the one Richc46 gave a link to and it will capture the mouse and active windows so should be good. Some won't let you grab right click menus.

I think its 'Basic,' because it is 'Basic' in its inclusion of many little features, shame but never mind.

So does this work similarly to Win 7 snipping tool?

I have never used that feature, but snipping tool was made especially for screen shots.
In addition, Ilikefree is suggesting its use only if Snipping tool is not available. I cannot see how it could be as good.

Its not got the same features as the win7 and h/prem, but it does asilikfree says, it can capture & use right click.

Just downloaded another one I have found i'll try it in a short while and report back how good or?

It would be useful if we could list of things that were for h/b , we miss out somewhat, but thats the price you pay.

Home premium has it as standard but you may have to enable it in Windows Features.
Never used 7 for long and never tried to use it when I had 7 so unable to answer if it is there. I switched back to Vista.

Why back to vista from win7?
Now I have both, so i'll see.

I think I will gather a small list and post onto the forum for the poorHB Boys like me! What do you think guys?

Compare Windows Vista - Microsoft Windows

I switched back to Win Vista also. Having some issues with Internet. I haven't given up completely as I love Win 7 also.

Rich is right I use screen capture myself plus the snipping tool and I like the first a lot better, so download and enjoy it.

I like Vista more than 7 so will stay with that.
I have several capture tools and programs that make videos of what you do on screen (Demo Builder)etc but I mainly use snipping tool or Faststone capture.

There is no right or wrong answer, of course, but I prefer Seven. Bought computer with Vista preinstalled just over 2 years ago. I took advantage of the pre buy offer for 7 ($49.99) included tax and shipping. Had to take advantaged. Have never looked back.
