Files in folders appearing in descending instead of ascending order?

My image files in folders have started appearing in descening order (numerically) instead of ascending order. e.g. a folder of images will appear TIFF_20 > TIFF_01, top to bottom, instead of the other way round. :(

Any idea what I might have done to make this happen?

I'd like them to go back to appearing in ascending order, by default.

Well?

Thanks. ;)

Not sure if I understand you correctly.

The Views option at the top of the window (between Organize and Slide Show) offers me the following options: Extra Large Icons, Large Icons, Medium Icons, Small Icons, List, Details, Tiles.

There is no Sort By option.

Apologies if I'm being thick! :)

Thanks.

Never knew that.

But, still mystified as to why images being saved out from Lightroom and Adobe Camera Raw are appearing in the folders in descending order all of a sudden when they never did previously.

The Alt solution works, but it seems I have to do it for each folder of images.

I'd like to be able to simply have the images appear in folders in ascending order by default.

Sorted!

I may not have been explaining myself properly in my original query, but the solution to my problem is as follows:

In order for files to appear in folders in ascending order the Name tab (as in Name/Date Modified/Type/Size ) in the HD window has to have its little arrow pointing upwards. Only that alters the default.

Contrary to what I wrote in the last reply, I haven't sorted the problem.

Files are still appearing in folders as 3,2,1 instead of 1,2,3.

I think I need to be able to create the default for the entire drive so that any folders created in it and any batch of files saved to those folders appear in ascending order.

But, how do I do that?

Thanks.

Annoyingly, the problem returned and after some searching, I think I may have found the solution!

As described here......

http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/77444-windows-explorer-folder-type-templates.html

1. Open the hard drive in question in Windows Explorer.

2. Right click on blank area in the Explorer window.

3. Choose Customize this folder.

4. Click on the Customize tab.

5. From the drop down menu choose All Items ( this is what I would want )

6. Check the box 'Also apply this template to all subfolders.'

7. Click Restore Default.

8. Click Apply/Ok.

After doing this the arrow in the Name tab in the Explorer window points upwards.

So far, so good. Files saved to newly created folders within this drive are appearing 1,2,3 instead of 3,2,1.

Phew!
